BATBOY for the BOLTON BOMBERS

Kevin was only 4 years old when he decided Singer/songwriter Michael Bolton was his Hero.  Kevin had over heard his Mom talking about writing to Michael Bolton several times asking him to help our Team, the Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation, to raise funds for Niemann Pick Type C.  Kevin had already heard Michael's music and loved it from the start.  When he discovered Michael Bolton used his time and talent to help others less fortunate and loved baseball - ... that was how his love for Michael began.  Four year old Kevin wanted to listen to Michael's music continuously and would belt out the words singing along begging his Mom to play it again.  Kevin learned that Michael had a charity softball team called the 'Bolton Bombers'.  Well... that's how Kevin's love for Michael and admiration for his Hero became a daily affirmation.  Kevin started to dream of meeting Michael and giving him a big hug.  He repeatedly announced his love for his Hero.   Kevin begged over and over to meet Michael.   His Mom no longer wanted to write Michael for his help in raising funds ... she had to make Kevin's wish come true of meeting his "Hero".

With perseverence, two years later, Kevin was able to attend a 'Bolton Bombers' charity softball game so he could meet Michael.  Michael was a Hero!  Michael met with Kevin; gave him a 'Bolton Bomber' bear, and allowed Kevin to give him those hugs Kevin dreamed about.  Michael also allowed Kevin the privilege of running the bases together after the game was over.  Michael instantly felt Kevin's love for him and for Kevin's love of baseball.

At the end of that school year when Kevin completed 1st grade, he sent Michael a handwritten letter asking if he could be his batboy.  Michael sent Kevin a personal letter acknowledging what an honor it was to have met him and to welcome Kevin as the newest 'Bolton Bomber' team member.  Kevin was so happy and proud.  The love Kevin felt for Michael never ended and he remained Kevin's Hero.

"Thank you Michael.  We are grateful.  You truly deserve to be called ... a "Hero".
